WISHBONE DIVINATION

11/26/2015

Picture
The definitive guide to the history, ancient practice and fortune-telling meanings of the dried turkey bone or merry thought--is once again available in limited edition from Wishbone North.   The booklet with plastic practice bones can be purchased for $3 or comes free with buying a restaurant gift card of $30.00 or more--through the end of this month.   Lettertype cover, illustrations and never-before-revealed meaning behind getting the "short end of the bone"  or winning with the "furcula majeur" are all part of this unusual Thanksgiving keepsake.
From the Etruscans through the entire Roman period where avian divination ruled political and social life and established holidays, the practice continues today in the age of crystal gazing at smartphones.
. . . Click on the broken bone to find YOUR fortune in the great bone pull of the leftovers.  There's more to it than meets the eye!

ABITA NIGHT SATURDAY 11/14

11/14/2015

POP GOES THE FIRKIN AT 7

Picture
TONIGHT, Saturday, the 14th, is ABITA NIGHT at Wishbone North. The New Orleans Brewery known for its Turbo Dog and Purple Haze, will introduce Turbo Dog "Mint Julep" along with a Macchiato Espresso Milk Stout (and other beers you haven't tried). The firkin pops at 7 but festivities start at 5:30 with the opening of Wishbone's "Yonder Bar" (adult room) hosted by mixologist, Matt Brown.

In addition to discounted drafts and preview tastes of Southern brew, Chef Ryan will be serving some alligator andouille, cold smoked Maryland oysters along with other treats to mark the occasion. Abita reps will be on hand with giveaways--so if you're a fan of good New Orleans craft beer and southern cooking, "Yonder" is the place to be.
There's no cover for letting the good times roll and Matt has some amazing cocktails to chase your beer. For food, bring a friend to share some Dixie BBQ Sliders or enjoy some of the best fish in town.
We're located at 3300 N. Lincoln at School Street and for more information, call us at 773.549.2663. See y'all tonight!
